Sexy Star Says ‘no’ to Botox
January 31, 2008 by Shadow · Comments Off
Former Playboy Playmate of the Year Jenny McCarthy is quitting her Botox sessions for good after the procedure reportedly ruined her ability to smile.
The curvaceous blonde beauty of the teen comedy “John Tucker Must Die” who has been linked to Jim Carrey found that the injections limited her facial expressions during a photo shoot for the cover of her parenthood book “Baby Laughs.”
McCarthy was horrified when she discovered she had a hard time smiling. Botox is a popular cosmetic procedure where small doses of the deadly botulinum toxin are injected on the face to smoothen wrinkles.
“They had to do it in five different places. It paralyses (facial muscles) for about three months, but burns and stings,” she narrated.
When asked why she had the injections, McCarthy replied, “I’m a girl, I’m insecure. I never took myself as the prissiest, prettiest woman alive. I’ve got my own problems.”
McCarthy knows when too much of a good thing is bad. Unfortunately, that is not the case with other Hollywood stars who appear to be addicted to Botox and no longer look natural. Nicole Kidman and Sylvester Stallone are two examples of bad Botox treatments.
“Kidman’s repeated use of Botox has led to her having an expressionless, frigid look in some public appearances and has caused some critics to accuse her of having a ‘Botox brow’, which leads to an excessively arched eyebrow that can make the person look angry,” said Make Me Heal’s Celebrity Plastic Surgery News.
As for “Rocky Balbotox”, critics say the former action star is no longer the hunk he used to be. Although he looks younger than his age, Stallone’s cosmetic treatments are far from perfect.
“Some of you may have caught Sylvester Stallone getting back in the ring in the latest installment of Rocky. If you were around in the 80s, Stallone was the go-to-action hero of the day. The Gossip Squad is split on how we feel about Rambo’s new look. Some of us feel that Sly’s new face is decidedly overbotoxified (did we just invent this word) and that his facelift is poorly executed because he barely looks like himself anymore. One of our cohorts thinks that we should give Sly a bit of a break because he looks more like 40 than 60. But we all agree that with the cosmetic enhancements, Sly simply doesn’t look like himself anymore,” said Make Me Heal.
To look your best and avoid the problems associated with Botox, use the Rejuvinol AM/PM Botox Alternative Age-Defying System. This revolutionary product utilizes the Rejuvinol morning moisturizer and the Rejuvox night cream to give you results not side effects. For more information, visit http://www.rejuvinol.com.

Most Popular Wedding Cakes For Celebrity Weddings
January 31, 2008 by Shadow · Comments Off
When people are trying to figure out what kind of a wedding cake that they want at their wedding reception, they sometimes do some research on what their favorite celebrities have had at their weddings. There are a lot of different options available out there for wedding cakes, and even if your favorite celebrity’s cake costs forty thousand dollars to make, this doesn’t mean that an experienced wedding cake maker can’t make a cheaper copy of it for you. Some of the most popular wedding cakes out there are pretty elaborate and expensive, but don’t get discouraged by these facts; there are many great caterers out there who will be able to design a great cake for your wedding.
Donald Trump and Melania Knauss had an impressive five foot high, fifty pound, seven tiered orange and white wedding cake that had three thousand white icing roses on it. Obviously, not many people will want to be quite as elaborate as that with their wedding cake! Donald Trump was probably expected to go all out with everything in his wedding, and he has enough money to cover any costs, including his wedding cake. If you like the sound of his wedding cake though, you could probably scale it down to a regular size, and still be able to afford it.
Hip hop artists Kalis and Nas had a five tiered wedding cake that was covered in sugar roses and gilded in twenty four karat gold! There aren’t too many people out there who would want to spend that kind of money on their wedding cake, or even on their whole wedding for that matter.
Celebs Toni Braxton and Keri Lewis’ wedding cake was a popular one. They had a four tier cake that was designed to look like four Tiffany’s boxes, all painted robin’s egg blue. The store must have appreciated the celebrity endorsement.
The now split up couple, Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen had a multi flavored wedding cake that was quite popular. The cake had three layers: chocolate fudge, banana cream and white satin. This must have been appreciated by their wedding guests, because most people like at least one of those flavors. This kind of wedding cake would probably be the cheapest celebrity cake to replicate, and it would be very popular among your guests.
Leanne Rimes and Dean Sheremat’s wedding cake was a five foot, multi tiered, white chocolate and strawberry cake that was decorated with over thirty five dozen roses. This cake was a very popular and much talked about cake, and would again, not be too hard to make, as long as you cut down on the size and the amount of the roses used!
When Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro got married, they had a four tiered wedding cake that was layered with Oreo cheesecake, chocolate cake, and strawberry shortcake. It was decorated with the same crystals that Carmen had on her wedding dress.
Any of these cakes can be the inspiration for your wedding cake, as long as you don’t mind compromising on a few things to make it more affordable. However, if you can afford it, go all out and spend the money to have one if these popular wedding cakes.

Lohan’s character will be an ex-high school beauty queen who is forced into a job after encountering hard times. Betty feels for the plight of the young girl and offers her a job at Mode. The House of Balenciaga
January 30, 2008 by Shadow · Comments Off
Balenciaga would be the fashion house that was founded by Spanish designer Cristóbal Balenciaga. He was the one who introduced couture shapes into the women’s world. Christian Dior even referred to him as “the master of us all”. Balenciaga was the one who conceptualized bubble skirts as well as the odd, feminine but ultra-modern shapes that are all trademarks of this fascinating fashion house.
The first boutique of Balenciaga was open in 1914 in San Sebastian, Spain. This later on expanded to include the other branches in Barcelona and Madrid. The Spanish royal family as well as the other aristocrats wore his designs and creations. However, when he was forced to close his stores during the Spanish Civil War, Balenciaga then moved to Paris. Today, Nicolas Ghesquière runs the designer house.
Balenciaga was able to open his Paris couture house in August of 1937 on Avenue George V. His very first runway show featured the designs which were influenced primarily by the Spanish Renaissance. His success in Paris was quick. In a span of two years, he was lauded by the French press as a revolutionary, after which, his designs were demanded highly.
The house of Balenciaga was the one that designed those dresses that were worn by Jennifer Connelly as well as Nicole Kidman at the 2006 Academy Awards. The wedding gown which Kidman wore for marriage to Keith Urban was also a Balenciaga creation.
Today, Balenciaga is famous for its selection of motorcycle-inspired handbags, particularly the famous “Lariat”. There are currently three Balenciaga boutiques in the US: the one in New York; Honolulu; and Los Angeles.

Reality Tv: Actors Get Your 15 Minutes of Fame!
January 29, 2008 by Shadow · Comments Off
Reality TV is now a mainstay in our lives. It also just happens to be the best way for actors to get their start in Hollywood.
Many of the participants in reality TV shows are simply actors trying to get some air time. Though not all of these upcoming actors receive fame and fortune by appearing in reality shows, they all do receive some general recognition at the very least.
Those most likely to reach stardom from reality shows are participants in talent searches such as American Idol – Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson being a great example. These might not seem like the type of contests that actors would get started in, but because being an actor involves more than just looking good on camera, focusing on just one facet of your talent is a great way to set you apart from the crowd.
So if you’re serious about getting started in Reality TV, you need to first get yourself set up for the auditions.
You already know who the big names are – the major networks, Fox, ABC, NBC, and CBS – so pick the shows you would love to be on! Just make sure you have what it takes to be a major contestant, so if you can’t swim, skip Survivor, and if you can’t sing, don’t try American Idol, it’s not worth it.
Casting agents for the biggest network show post their reality show casting at selected online talent sites like New Faces Models and Talent at www.newfaces.com Because New Faces gets the information directly from the network casting agents and sites, the castings are always on NewFaces.com first. And you don’t have to go to a different source for each type of casting, New Faces brings together all the different genres in one place and has all the details on how and where to apply.
Many of these shows will allow for applicants to send in pictures or videos for consideration. Most reality shows will require applicants to fill out a detailed application before they can be considered. Some may also subject applicants to physical or mental tests during reality TV show auditions. For example, you can’t get on Survivor without these physical tests.
Once you get past the application process and make it into a reality show, be ready for a great deal of television exposure, which might just put you on the A-list.

Douglas and Zeta-jones to Make Monsoon Film in India
January 29, 2008 by Shadow · Comments Off
Over two decades after the original, Michael Douglas is making another sequel to his 1984 film Romancing the Stone. The first sequel, 1985’s Jewel of the Nile was a rather lacklustre movie, but the new sequel, which is called Racing the Monsoon, will feature Douglas’ Oscar-winning Welsh wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, as well as Bourne Identity star Matt Damon, so it promises to be much better. Douglas and Zeta-Jones will be relocating to Indian in order to film the sequel in Mumbai, Kolkata and Jaisalmer and the film promises to provide a real boost to the already-thriving Indian film industry.
It is thought that Racing the Monsoon will be an action adventure movie that tells the story of a diamond heist that takes place onboard an Indian train. The film signifies the first fully-fledged Hollywood-Bollywood co-production to date.
Ms Zeta-Jones said that she was excited about shooting the film and spending some time in India, she said: “I’m looking forward to going to India. Michael and I are developing a script that will be set in India. We will take our kids and all of us will come there, set up camp in India and shoot a film.” Douglas also said that he was pleased to be going to India, declaring that he had been closely studying Indian culture. He said: “India is making a large impact in the US, be it culture, design, fashion or films which are splashed everywhere in the world. I have been closely following and studying Indian culture and I’m fascinated by it.”
Michael Douglas’ own production company, Further Films, and Indian production house Percept Picture Company (PPC), which is co-run by Shailendra Singh - a friend of Douglas’, will finance the £30 million film. Ms Singh said: “Michael being a friend, had approached us to partner him and we agreed. Percept will raise the cost for the Indian part of the production.” Michael said that he was happy to be working with the Percept Picture Company, he explained: “When the subject of films came up, Percept showed interest. As I was looking for partners in India to do films here, I was happy things worked out.”
Ms Singh believes that making Racing the Monsoon in India will have a positive impact on the Indian film industry as a whole. She said: “With more films like Racing the Monsoon coming to India, imagine the kind of exposure, interaction and employment that will be generated for Indian technicians and artists.”
Steve Carr is expected to be announced as director of Racing the Monsoon. His previous credits include Daddy Day Care, Next Friday and Doctor Doolittle 2.

Student Book Guide To Going Out In London
January 27, 2008 by Shadow · Comments Off
There is a lot to attract someone to study in London. To begin with there are some of the best Universities in the country as well as over 200 museums, stunning architecture and history and top facilities for students. London is one of the most vibrant, creative and diverse cities in the world and is a perfect place to build your future.
Studying a side, another of Londons wonderful qualities is its nightlife. No one should ever be bored in london, ever. However as a new student in London it can all be quite daunting and you may find yourself get in the habit of hitting the SU Bar and the walkabout and keeping in your comfort zones which is ok I suppose but you’d be missing out on a hell of a lot of fun and that would be a big shame.
I have constructed an area by area guide to the bars you must go for a drink in and the clubs you have to go and shake your ass in. Deep Breath…
I’ll start off with the legendary Camden Town. Camden is associated usually with Goths, Punks and Emo’s, but there is loads more going on. Camden is packed full of gig venues; The Dublin Castle, Barfly, Dingwalls, Proud Gallery, Koko, The Lock Tavern, The Round House, The Monarch, The Underworld - the list can go on and on. Every year the Camden Crawl makes great use of the long list of venues with a two day festival hosting gigs all over the area showcasing the best in new music. Acts this year featured Crystal Castles, Sam Sparro, Noah and the Whale and loads more.
I’ll pick out a couple of Camden’s best bits for you. My favourite place for a drink with my mates is probably The Lock Tavern; there is a roof terrace and a beer garden and really good food. In the summer they have a barbeque too. The music is always really cool with surprise DJ’s and residents. Just up the road from there is the Barfly, the local rock and roll sweat box. Generally the gigs there are the best of Camden’s new music scene, it’s usually rammed full on Friday and Saturday nights, drinks aren’t too expensive they have cheap shots and on their club night Casino Royale you can play roulette and win drinks.
Proud Galleries recently relaunched in a new venue about 100 times the size than the old one. Maybe that is slightly inaccurate but it is seriously huge. Situated in stables market, there are two massive rooms and then loads of seated areas in the old stables. Expensive drinks but great nights. The launch kicked off with The Enemy playing a gig and things have just been getting better and better since then.
Koko is home to club NME and Xfm do their awards show there. It’s really stunning inside and if you’re an indie scenester then it’s the place to be on a Friday night. There is usually discount for students on entry as well.
Shoreditch has become the trendiest place to go out. The area is flooded with artists, musicians, poets, photographers and fashionista’s. The vibe is very chilled and bohemian through the day times and then at night the pubs and clubs come alive. Hoxton Bar and Kitchen is home to Sunday nights BoomBox, the club that started a fashion revolution. It became the place to be with the likes of Naomi Campbell, Lindsay Lohan and Kelly Osborne swinging by to party and a tribe of regulars who dress not to impress but to gob smack. It sounds like it would be full of egos and posers but it is so open and welcoming and has free entry, everyone is there for a great time. The after party is held at Bar Aquarium, Wet Yourself. It’s basically a club playing good electro with a pool and Jacuzzi, soooo much fun I can’t even get started. Don’t forget your Speedo’s!
Also in Shoreditch its worth checking out Brick Lane. There are some great bars around like 93 feet east and cafe 1001, hosting all kinds of gigs, short film nights and DJ sets. Great food is available too.
The Old Blue Last on Commercial Street is a cool venue. It’s owned by Vice magazine and there are usually gigs upstairs most nights. Check out club night BOSH! one Friday each month. It’s free to get in and always has an awesome line up and great DJs.
Goldsmiths students have a pretty good selection of places to go down in New Cross. London’s most stylish students hit the Amersham Arms for gigs and club nights. Check out SKIPtheatre, it’s a night of live music and theatrical performances from girls who love to skip, sounds quite bizarre but it’s very cool. There are good gigs at the New Cross Inn and the Goldsmiths Student Union host some great nights too with very cheap drinks on offer.
Hanging out in central London can be a bit hit and miss. You may find yourself in a heavily over priced pub or cocktail bar and the atmosphere lacks a sense of community due to the amount of tourists. However there are some really great places to go. For the student with a tight budget I would recommend going to one of the many Sam Smith’s pubs dotted around Soho. My favourite is the recently refurbished Princess Louise on High Holborn. It is truly beautiful inside and a standard pint is two pounds! If it’s too busy in there then move on to The Crown on New Oxford Street and take your beer outside where there are loads of people gathering around drinking and chatting.
For clubbing in central London, the most popular places for students are Madame JoJo’s, The Roxy, Punk and Metro. They’re all gig venues that have club nights too, usually pretty rock and roll but there can be lots of different stuff going on too. The End is a great club in the west end. Home to Durrrr the successor of the iconic Trash club night where the theme is to be as eccentric as you can and have an amazing time. Other nights are good too, there’s a lot of variety; dub, techno, electro, drum and bass etc. And on the weekends it is open until 6.
There are also loads of club nights put on for students with very cheap drinks. There is Vodka Island at Tiger Tiger every Monday; Lost in London at The Zoo Bar every Tuesday; Game On every Wednesday at Zoo Bar and Mystik Disco at On Anon every Thursday. They are all very popular with students probably due to the low prices for drinks and the vast genre span of the music. It’s also a good place to go to meet other students when you are settling into London life.
West London has a great scene too. It is more likely to drain your bank account but there are ways to make the most of Notting Hill on a budget. Notting Hill Arts Club is home to Alan McGee’s Death Disco, the legendary punk, rock, electro club every Wednesday. The drinks are reasonably priced and it’s free to get in before 8 so definitely worth going down for. There are lots of nice pubs and bars in the area too, check out Neighbourhood at 12 Acklam Road for a mix of funk, soul, jazz, afro-latin and more.
I could go on but you’d never get any homework done, so I will leave it there. Party On!! x

2006 Toronto Blue Jays Preview
January 27, 2008 by Shadow · Comments Off
2005 Overview:
No one expected much from the Toronto Blue Jays in 2005. But surprisingly, prior to the all star break Toronto pitching managed to remain in the American League top 10 while their battling ranked 5th overall in the AL with a collective .268 team average. Unfortunately for Toronto it was all downhill from there as they slid to a final disappointing 80-82 record and fell 15 games behind the Red Sox and Yankees to end their season in 3rd place.
Toronto outfielder Vernon Wells (.269 28 97) provided most of the Blue Jays’ power numbers in 2005 with former Arizona Diamondback and newly acquired Shea Hillenbrand (.291 17 82) helping by splitting time between 1st and 3rd base. The rest of the infield produced much of the team’s offensive in 2005 including 2nd baseman Orlando Hudson (.315 10 63) and 3rd baseman turned 1st baseman Eric Hinske (.262 15 68). Starting pitcher Roy Halladay (12-4 2.41) was clearly the star of the starting pitching staff before he suffered a broken bone in his left leg in early July. And closer Miguel Batista kept the Blue Jays in the race during the first half compiling an impressive 4-2 record prior to the all star break with 15 saves. However, Batista simply wasn’t the same pitcher in the 2nd half of the year despite 16 saves. After the all star break Batista only posted a 1-6 record with a less then stellar 5.35 ERA. Starters Josh Towers (13-12 3.71), Gustavo Chacin (13-9 3.72) and Ted Lilly (10-11 5.56) helped to keep the 2005 pitching efforts admirable.
Off Season Moves:
Much to the delight of Toronto fans, management made two aggressive off season moves to upgrade their pitching staff for 2006. The first was signing free agent and former Baltimore Oriole closer B.J. Ryan (1-4 2.43 36 saves in 41 opportunities)) and the other was taking advantage of the Florida Marlins fire sale by adding starting pitcher A.J. Burnett (12-12 3.44). The Blue Jays also added offensive punch by trading pitcher Dave Bush for 1st baseman Lyle Overbay (.276 19 72) and trading away Orlando Hudson and closer Miguel Batista for slugger Troy Glaus (.258 37 97).
2006 Analysis:
The Blue Jays will jump out of the gate with a very solid pitching staff in 2006. Expect Roy Halladay, A.J. Burnett, Ted Lilly and Gustavo Chacin to form an impressive starting rotation. Burnett pitched over 200 innings in Florida last season so he will prove to be a fine addition to the Blue Jays staff. The acquisition of Oriole closer B.J. Ryan over spotty Miguel Batista will be a vast improvement in the bullpen. Troy Glaus will finally provide some much needed protection for slugger Vernon Wells. One interesting consideration will be how the Blue Jays handle juggling Hillenbrand, Eric Hinske and Troy Glaus at 3rd base. Hillenbrand and Hinske will most likely DH with leftfielder Reed Johnson (.269 8 58) and rightfielder Alex Rios (.262 10 59) rounding out the rest of the Toronto lineup. If the starting pitching can hold up, and the bats can remain productive expect the Blue Jays to keep the summer interesting in 2006.
