Can A Wedding Gift Be Fun?
June 7, 2008 by Shadow · Comments Off
Can a Wedding Gift be thoughtful and fun at the same time? Absolutely! there are many ways to make your gifts fun and unique to make your very own personal statement in a unique way.
To choose a perfect Wedding Favors for your guests along with all the intricacies of wedding planning is a daunting task for any bride to be. Normally a variety of favors ranging from expensive ones to the not so expensive ones are gifted to the guests at the wedding which are more or less in the same category. One of the ways to be different and not a cookie cutter gift giver is to present a fun wedding favor. A fun wedding gift can be economical and at the same time make a unique statement which will bring a smile to your guests face.
A fun wedding gift can be something personalized to suite a particular personality which would be not only thoughtful and considerate on your part but will make your guest feel very special and honored to be the recipient of a gift full of love and thoughtfulness.
A keepsake or a memory can be turned into a fun gift by presenting it in a unique manner, for instance for the gift to be a keepsake and remembered for a log time to come, it can be something that constitutes an emotional bond between the giver and the recipient. For example a wedding gift can be an intricate or a simple puzzle created out of Photographs or old cherished memories which will not only create suspense and wonderment but also a special emotional bond between the giver and the receiver.
The wedding favor should be given keeping in mind the nature of the person, supposing your recipient is a Casanova you could gift him a puzzle with a picture of Pamela Anderson or Eva Longoria. You can be sure he would be up all night to make sure he got the puzzle right. If its a female recipient she may find keen interest in Brad Pitt and you could always get a puzzle that could be worth solving for that particular personality. Children can also be given something related to their favorite cartoon or even a picture of their parents. To assist you in personalizing your gift you could take a picture of them or even hire someone to make it more fun.
Fun is also a personal matter. What is funny to you may not be funny to others. Everybody perceives fun in a different way. Hence, while selecting the fun wedding favors, keep in mind if there is any element that may hurt someones feelings. Try to be non controversial too. There are many ways to give customized t-shirts with your own images and wordings without being controversial or offensive.
If you are expecting too many guests, you may not be able to customize the wedding favors. You may group them in to different categories- Boys, girls, men, women, elders etc . For example it could be a simple bottle of bubbles for the kids and some do-it-yourself kits for boys. All age groups may enjoy a Frisbee with the picture of a bride & groom!
Eva Longoria , The Desperate Housewives actress and Tony Parker , basketball ace gave bags containing Van Cleef & Arpels bracelets and a stash of make-up worth $700 each to their guests. While the guests enjoyed, many people commented that they got them free from the companies that they sponsored. It is important to give some thing, no matter howe inexpensive or little it might seem from your own money, so that people appreciate the fact that you really care for their feelings. For instance Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s wedding favors were a silver Tiffany clock engraved with “A Moment in Time, June 25, 2006 - Nicole and Keith” which was very much appreciated by the guests.
You may find some items in stores dealing with magic which may be suitable for giving as fun wedding favor. Many online and offline retailers offer only fun wedding favors and gifts. You may look for any funny item that you feel is suitable to be given as a wedding favor. Check your budget to see weather you can customize or personalize the gifts that you buy for your guests as personalization is really not all that expensive these days.
The advantage of a fun wedding favor is not only the fun part but also posterity, your guests will remembered you and your event for a long time because the gift they received was really fun. The idea behind all gifts is to make sure that your guests feel appreciated and to show your respect and love and also that they have a good time at your big event or special occasion. While people tend to forget the wedding favors received at someones wedding, they are likely to remember the fun part of the wedding favors for a long time. It does not matter how expensive or inexpensive the gift is, it does however matter how creative and funny this wedding favor is.

Nicole Kidman Recounts “how to Marry a Millionaire”
May 19, 2008 by Shadow · Comments Off
The film “How to Marry a Millionaire” debuted in 1953 and helped to catapult Marilyn Monroe to stardom. The film, in which Monroe portrays the ditzy, yet endearing Pola Debevoise, also hosted Hollywood greats Lauren Bacall and Betty Grable as three beautiful women who, after becoming frustrated with dating cheap men, move into a posh New York City penthouse and use their feminine wiles to try and snag wealthy bachelors to marry.
Millionaire takes all
Another Hollywood icon, namely Nicole Kidman, has purchased the rights to this film and is set to revamp “How to Marry a Millionaire” through her 20th Century Fox-based production company, Blossom Films. Sacha Gervasi, best known for writing “The Terminal” script for Steven Spielberg, has been commissioned to pen the screenplay, which is said to be a more modern-day, updated reinterpretation of the classic Monroe film. Most likely, the plot is not going to follow the original storyline too closely, and is still very much under wraps. There have been reports speculating on who could be cast alongside Kidman, or whether the remodelled version will even star three leading ladies. Nicole Kidman is rumoured to be taking over Marilyn Monroe’s role in the film.
Make me over
Kidman, a remake veteran, has already lent her thespian talents to a remake of “The Stepford Wives” originally released in 1975, “Bewitched”, a remake of the supernatural sitcom, and “The Invasion”, a loose reinterpretation of the 1956 science-fiction thriller “Invasion of the Body Snatchers.” In both “The Stepford Wives” and “Bewitched”, Kidman took the female characters to new lengths with regard to strong femininity and beguiling charm. Consequently, it is exciting to speculate as to just where Kidman would take Monroe’s character, Pola. In “How to Marry a Millionaire”, Pola is the slightly narcissistic and charmingly daft character amongst the bunch, and Kidman, having tread in somewhat more elevated waters, may choose to have Pola’s intelligence quotient kicked up a few notches by having her read some Virginia Woolf as a nod to Kidman’s Oscar-winning performance in “The Hours.”
Battle of the Blonds
Nicole Kidman and the late Marilyn Monroe are remarkably similar; both are blond, beautiful bombshells that can charm the pants off almost any audience. Kidman, with her signature sultriness and classy demeanor, can most certainly turn more than a few heads, but can she compete with one of the most iconic and curvaceous coquettes of the 20th century? While Monroe was and still remains the epitome of a sex symbol, some say her acting chops are definitely no match for the Oscar-winning Kidman. Monroe may have had her experience with high-profile marriages, such as her unions with Joe DiMaggio and Arthur Miller, but Kidman most definitely knows a thing or two about marrying millionaires, namely Hollywood heavyweight Tom Cruise and country crooner Keith Urban. Perhaps that is why Kidman initially signed on to the project; she just wanted to put all that knowledge to work.

Film Review: the Invasion (2007)
May 7, 2008 by Shadow · Comments Off
The newest remake of the story INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS greatly departs from the previous versions in that the alien presence is now an infection or parasite. In the Oliver Hirschbiegel directed remake THE INVASION Nicole Kidman stars as Carol Bennell a woman who tries to run away from the alien infestation when a downed space shuttle brings back to Earth an unknown being. The first one to experience the alien’s infestation is Carol’s ex-husband Tucker (Jeremy Northam) and from there the infestation spreads like wild fire. Like all previous versions by the time any one realizes that something is wrong with the people around them it is too late.
Carol soon realizes that the only way to not be taken over by the alien is to not fall sleep and the only way to avoid capture is to show no emotion. Things get even more complicated when Carol realizes that her son Oliver (Jackson Bond) is immune and with the help of her boyfriend Ben (Daniel Craig) and Dr. Stephen Galeano (Jeffrey Wright) they all try to get to a safe haven in older to find a cure for the epidemic.
Where the film suffers the most is in the tone in that its not sure if it wants to be a psychological thriller, a drama, or an action film. It is well known that James (V FOR VENDETTA) McTeigue was brought in for reshoots when the studio was disappointed with the rough cut. McTeigue amped up the last third of the film in terms of action but this sharp change in direction goes against everything that came before it. Written by Dave Kajganich (based on the novel “The Body Snatchers” by Jack Finney) the new film is competent yet lacks the cinematic punch of any of its predecessors and becomes just another lackluster remake in a trend of under performing remakes (i.e. THE HITCHER or WHEN A STRANGER CALLS).

Crowe and Kidman to Unite in Aussie Film
April 20, 2008 by Shadow · Comments Off
After a failed attempt at collaborating on “Eucalyptus,” Russell Crowe and Nicole Kidman are looking to team with “Moulin Rouge” director Baz Luhrmann. All three are Australian.
Crowe and Kidman have signed on to star in what is being called an epic Australian Outback film set in the years up to and including World War II. The film, codenamed “Project Oklahoma,” will begin in the 1930s and stretch to the 1942 Japanese bombing of the tropical city of Darwin.
“We’ve talked a bout it for over seven years, that we must do something together in Australia.” Luhrmann said to the Sydney Morning Herald.
Kidman said that she was looking forward to making a “uniquely Australian story” with Crowe, who she calls her “good friend.”
Luhrmann compared the film to “Gone with the Wind” and “Lawrence of Arabia.” “Collateral” screenwriter Stuart Beattie will work with Luhrmann on the script for the film.
Kidman has had a working history with Luhrmann, who directed the three minute, multimillion-dollar Chanel No. 5 commercial in which Kidman starred.
The rumored budget for the film is said to be about $40 million in Australian currency, which is equivalent to about $30 million in U.S. dollars. Filming is set to begin in August, and the film is projected to be released in 2007.

Nicole Kidman buys a house in Brentwood…$7mil
April 6, 2008 by ginab · Leave a Comment
Nicole Kidman has returned to a previous neighborhood of residence, Brentwood, and has snapped up a $7 million home. After Nicole split from her ex-husband Tom Cruise, she sold her Westside property for $10.5 million. Now she’s got 5,600 square feet of space on a quiet cul-de-sac street, with five bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, walls of glass, extensive gardens, and koi ponds. And, of course, a great view of Los Angeles.
Sounds like quiet the change from her surprisingly humble abode in Nashville.

Hot Women Get Dumped for Someone Else
April 1, 2008 by Shadow · Comments Off
Hi Dennis,
From your experience, what causes a man to leave his wife for another woman? Such as Tom Cruise leaving Nicole Kidman for Penelope, and Brad Pitt leaving Jennifer Aniston for Angelina.
What do you think was the primary reason? The “other” woman being more beautiful, sexier and more sexually aggressive cannot be enough of a reason.
Did Tom and Brad find a deeper emotional connection with these new women as well as a deeper sexual connection? What was the catapult?
Or; are they just perpetual womanizers, never satisfied with what they have?
======================
Hello!
You say that being more sexually aggressive cannot be enough of a reason - why not?
You’re using your own, female yardstick to judge these guys without understanding the guys themselves. You’re assuming that because Kidman is more attractive (far more, in my humble) than Cruz that’s enough to keep him around. You probably also feel that way about Aniston.
I’ve heard this argument many times from women. It goes like this: “Well, she’s just so….gorgeous! What do these guys want anyway???” These foolish women are thinking that men are mostly interested in a woman’s looks and if some of the most beautiful women in the world can’t keep a guy, what chance do they have?
Sound familiar?
Women want to paint men with a broad brush in this way. Since they believe that men are purely visual; they also assume that’s all it takes to make a man happy.
Let’s take the celebrities out of the equation entirely here since you really don’t know the context of any of this. Both of these marriages could easily be shams; just as the divorces could have been, for the benefits of the performers. This has been used as a way to keep entertainers in the media “loop” since celebrity began! Thus, let’s not use it as an example of the real world.
With “real guys” you’re totally off-base thinking that if a woman is just beautiful enough, she’ll be able to keep a guy. Not so at all - it has very little to do looks. I constantly see women of average looks steal men from beauties! Why? Simple: a woman’s looks ONLY get her in the door. NOTHING ELSE. If this weren’t true, no woman over the age of 40 would ever have a relationship!
Men are looking for MANY other things. What are they looking for? That depends on the guy for a complete answer, but the reality is this: any woman that is sexually skilled and works to keep her man attracted to her sexually rarely loses him. That is a fact. Also a fact: bad marriages that have a great sex life rarely end, but even great marriages with bad sex lives almost always end.
Today, I see so many women doing really, really dumb things and then being surprised when they lose great guys - or just can’t seem to get dates. I’ve seen many people - even so called “experts” - telling women to do these dumb things! Interestingly, many of these same women come to me and tell me how something that they’ve been told just blew up in their faces. I just have to hang my head and wonder sometimes.
The bottom line is that men leave women because they aren’t getting what they want. It’s that simple. If you or any woman wants to keep her man around tomorrow, you’d better learn this fact and invest in him today. What I see happening is just the opposite. Men investing and investing and investing trying to get a return and finally just giving up and moving on because their woman didn’t pay off by bothering to learn what he needed to stay around.
Best regards…

Make Me a Gorgeous Filmstar!

From time to time as a hypnotherapist, I get flippant remarks thrown at me such as ‘can you hypnotise me and make me look like Nicole Kidman!’ Although said in jest, it is surprising how sceptical and uninformed people are about the potential as well as the limitations of hypnotherapy. Certainly, hypnotherapy can help one look good, it can help us make the most of ourselves. It can work seeming miracles, but it cannot go against the laws of nature. So obviously hypnotherapy won’t enable us to escape the laws of gravity, jump out of a window without doing ourselves damage, but it will help us to be less fearful of flying in an aeroplane. If that happens to be an issue for us.
True, I have seen some extraordinary results with clients. Panic attacks under control, weight loss, confidence boosted etc but I also know that as a hypnotherapist I am powerless if my client does not truly want to change. Contrary to Hollywood propaganda, there is no way someone can be made to do something, through hypnosis, UNLESS they want to.
Providing the client really wants to change, then hypnotherapy is the best way I know, to create change and make it easy to achieve. The truth is that our greatest power lies in the unconscious. This would explain why someone will say one thing but do something else.
So our smoker friend for example, may say that he knows he must stop smoking, he knows that he is damaging his health, he even feels his breathing is being restricted, BUT he simply won’t do anything about it. This is a classic example of the unconscious, not participating with him. Somehow the unconscious has been previously programmed by him, to feel that smoking is hip and trendy, or offers camaraderie or countless other reasons to rationalise the habit. This programming was not done consciously, but it was done at some point, for sure. If he is going to become a non-smoker, then he will have to engage his unconscious. Interestingly, the verb KNOW is used a lot these days. When you hear people say they ‘know’ something, often they are implying an intellectual knowing. It could be argued that real knowing can only take place when we have the unconscious mind on our side.
Remember when you were learning to drive a car or ride a bicycle? How much effort it took in the beginning. Knowing when to change gear, coordinating clutch control and gear change… It took real concentration. Later, once you have learnt how to drive, the skill is taken up by your unconscious and you drive effortlessly, you no longer have to ponderously concentrate on the mechanics. This is where the hypnotherapist can help. He acts as a kind of go between. An envoy between our conscious self and the unconscious. The hypnotherapist will talk to you about your goals, wishes and desires as well as take a brief history of the presenting conditions. Then he will use his skill to establish contact with your unconscious and reprogramme it. Sometimes it may be necessary to go to the source of the problem, this may be some time in the past in childhood. The client may not be aware of the source of the problem, but his unconscious will.
The unconscious stores all of our experiences. The hypnotherapist is able to engage in conversation with the unconscious (obviously with the permission of the client), and once this has taken place, past experiences can be reframed from a different, more resourceful state. So you could well use hypnosis to find your inner beauty, to tone your body and be more attractive, hypnosis, can make you a more attractive person, but unique and not a copy of a film star.
