Why People Download Free Wallpapers
July 28, 2008 by Shadow · Comments Off
It is no secret that people can easily download wallpapers online. There are several reputable sites that allow people to access free desktop wallpapers, and more and more people are taking up on their offer. There are quite a number of wallpaper designs to choose from, but what’s even more interesting to know is that people download different desktop backgrounds for different reasons. The main reason why people download wallpapers is that the wallpapers reflect their interest. A person who is fond of motorcycles may communicate his or her penchant for these rides by downloading an image of a fierce motorcycle. Another person who loves cartoons may opt to display an image of his or her favorite cartoon characters on their computer units. The wallpapers help people in defining who they are and what they are about. People around them will be able to identify a person’s character because it is reflected in his or her choice of wallpaper. The wallpaper thus becomes a stamp of individuality. Another reason why people take advantage of free desktop wallpapers online is that wallpapers may give people inspiration. Among the designs offered are images of celebrities. It is not uncommon that people love looking at celebrities’ pictures because they are gorgeous; thus, they may be inspired to sit in front of the computer because that would mean they would see an image of say, Angelina Jolie for the guys, or Jude Law for the girls. What’s more, the images of celebrities are not the run of the mill tabloid quality. The wallpapers feature beautiful shots of the celebrities, thus upping the giddy ante. Pictures of music stars may also be downloaded for people who are more inspired with the artists in the music industry; wallpapers of Beyonce Knowles have been downloaded by plenty of guys and girls.Wallpapers also help people relax. It can be pretty stressful for a person to sit in front of the computer for most of the day, so a soothing image on the screen helps big time. Nature images may do the trick for those who are stressed-out, as the images provide serenity. Also, images of different places around the world may help people take their minds off the busy world temporarily. The wallpapers of picturesque backgrounds provide an escape for the people, allowing them to rejuvenate their minds even while they are in front of the computer. This trick allows people to mix business with pleasure.Aside from the uses mentioned above, wallpapers also help people to commemorate special occasions. A wallpaper of the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus lends a festive mood to the appropriate occasion. On the other hand, a creepy desktop wallpaper reminds the computer user that Halloween is just around the corner. The people become more excited in anticipation of the holidays because of the wallpapers they download. While people download free desktop wallpapers for different reasons, the common thing among those people is that they find downloading wallpapers pretty easy. One won’t crack a sweat in downloading images and uploading those on the desktop display.

Women’s Weight - Don’t Overdo Weight Loss!
July 21, 2008 by Shadow · Comments Off
With regard to women’s weight the media has a lot to answer for. We have reached a stage where young girls think that being skinny is good - NO it’s not!
Young girls have become obsessed with seeing young models in the media who are incredibly skinny and they want to be that way too, but it’s not healthy for their minds or their bodies.
Women of a larger build can certainly look good and there are many examples of this.
One of the biggest sex symbols of all time was Marilyn Monroe and she was a size 16.
Take women such as Sophia Loren, Jayne Mansfield and Bridget Bardoe, these were Some of the most famous and sexy women in the world and they were not size 6 stick insects either.
The trend towards girls wanting to be skinny took off in the 60s, when models such as Twiggy gained international prominence.
As the years have progressed we have seen a number of other very slim models reinforce this look on young girls.
Once looking at one my friend’s advertisements he was doing for a women’s magazine, saw him edit a models stomach so she appeared much skinner than she really was in reality.
The ideal that many young girls look up to then is not even real in many cases!
The technique of “touching” photos goes on all the time, to present the perfect look to the viewing audience.
We spoke about fuller figures of and the sex symbols of the past, but some of the sexiest women in the world today are not skinny.
Beyonce Knowles of Destiny’s Child and Angelina Jolie are not stick insects. They all have curves and men adore them!
Young girls see skinny models in the media and try and copy them, but there are plenty of fuller figured women around as we have seen.
Being skinny is not healthy either.
Lots of women are obsessed with dieting and that any fat is a curse. No its not, fat is not bad in itself at all.
We all need a certain amount of fat to be healthy, if you are not carrying enough you will be less resiliant to illness and unhealthy.
We live in a society that is more image conscious than ever and young girls are bombarded with advertising and media brain washing. They then adopt the mindset of wanting to be skinnier than they really should be.
They want to be perfect - But that’s ridiculous no one is – So why try?
They dream of perfection but they will never achieve it and it doesn’t matter one jot.
Be happy with who you are and keep in mind men love curves.
Angelina Jolie got married the other day, sad loss for all her male fans like me, who dreamed of taking her up the aisle.
Now that’s a dream – but its never going to be a reality!
Dreams are dreams – reality is different, dont look for perfection and chase an ideal that can’t be fullfilled, be happy with who you are.
Be happy with who you are and learn to accpet your body shape.
Stop chasing dreams and perfection and learn to love yourself.
Create a video blog…instantly.

More to Some Celebrities Than Meets The Eye
June 11, 2008 by Shadow · Comments Off
Popular celebrity weeklies such as Star Magazine and In Touch Weekly explore and report on the glamorous world of popular entertainers and celebrities. It is difficult not to harbor any envy when glossy magazines and popular television shows provide picturesque layouts of palatial estates, and reports of multi million dollar pays for earning a living at something that many do not consider to be work. In addition, celebrities also receive special treatment in most instances and often do not have to pay for things though they can afford to.
While it may difficult to begrudge them their exulted status, there are some things that are positive about celebrity and fame. You may turn a lighter shad of green when you realize that celebs:
Inspire Us to Work Harder
Some may consider this negative, but in a culture full of celebrity worship, we want what our favorite entertainers have. We work harder at trying to attain the perfect body because Beyonce Knowles and Jennifer Lopez possess it. We want to own at least one Porsche like Jerry Seinfeld, or platinum Jewelry like Sean Combs.
Though the perfect body may be unattainable, and to be fair celebrities enjoy airbrushing, personal trainers and personal chefs to help them attain either the illusion or an actual perfect body. They make us work harder at being our best self, and most of us figure if he can do it I can do it too.
Teach Us about the World
Not every person blessed with fame is shallow and self involved. Often celebrities use their fame as a platform to increase awareness about national and global problems and events. Whatever the consensus is on Angelina Jolie as a home wrecker, the fact that she has raised awareness of the importance of adoption is indisputable. Jolie, adopted two children from third world nations bringing an awareness of the plight of children in poor and developing countries. Other celebrities such as Meg Ryan, and Madonna have followed her lead and countless others will undoubtedly follow.
George Clooney may someday run for office, but is currently using his celebrity status to raise awareness of the genocide in Darfur, Sudan. Clooney has helped raise money, and introduced many Americans to a part of the world that is often not discussed on their local news.
In addition to world events celebrities also help to raise awareness and money for foundations for rare and incurable diseases. Both Michael J. Fox and Muhammad Ali suffer from Parkinsons disease, Christopher Reeve was an outspoken advocate for people with spinal disabilities. Celebrities make it cool to do charitable activities such as doing a walk for cancer or encouraging women to be tested for breast cancer and men for prostate cancer. Celebrities such as Fran Drescher, and Rudolph Giuliani tell their stories and share their fight with the diseases which undoubtedly saves lives.
Though it is quite easy to look at most entertainers as overpaid and egotistical, remember there are two sides to the equation.

Sugar Boots -possibly the Coolest Thing you Can Put on your Feet?
June 11, 2008 by Shadow · Comments Off
So why are sugar boots and shoes so popular in the UK at the moment? Well…to tell you the truth i wasn’t completely sure until last week…
It wasn’t until I saw my best friend Amy with a pair of Sugar Boots that I realised just why so many thousand girls have been trying to get hold of a pair of these fantastic little things! They are actually incredibly cool looking. I have seen Sugar Boots being worn by the celebrities featured in heat magazine, and finally managed to get my hands on a pair. Luckily for me Amy is a size 4 so I could get to try before I buy, and sure enough, they fitted like a glove.
I’m not normally the type of person to rave about a pair of boots, I usually prefer to spend my time deciding what top or pair of jeans to put on. Usually the only thought shoes get is that they have to blend in with my outfit, but found myself somehow wanting to choose my outfit around these boots…most strange! I guess I’ve been hooked by the “Sugar Boot” craze and will be ordering a few more pairs…just for choice (please don’t tell my husband :o) )
Sugar boots are yet to be donned by the mighty Beyonce Knowles, but I’ve been reading on the sugar website that she is wearing the false eyelashes. Rachel Mcadams has also been said to wear the “Pump em up” lip gloss…come on girls…get a pair of Sugar shoes on your feet!
Well, I’ll have to end this article by recommending my favourite pair of Sugar Boots, and it’s the “Sugar Graphic Boot Party Polka”. It was the first pair of boots that I laid my eyes on that were made by sugar, and I guess that they will always be my favourite, and I’ve got a pair on order at the moment.

Report: Beyonce & Jay-Z Wed
May 28, 2008 by Shadow · Comments Off
NEW YORK, NY –
Singer Beyonce Knowles reportedly wed rapper Jay-Z on Friday, a source close to the couple told People magazine.
“It happened earlier this evening. Jay wanted it to be a really private affair – close friends and family,” the source said.
News of the reported wedding comes after days of speculation following reports, which surfaced on Tuesday, that Jay-Z and Beyonce had taken out a marriage license in Scarsdale, New York.
The couple reportedly followed their private ceremony with a star-studded reception that included Destiny Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, Tina Knowles, Solange, and close friends Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay singer Chris Martin, and Jay-Z’s close friends.
Jay-Z’s favorite man on the turntables, DJ Cassidy, was at the reception spinning, according to the source.
“Cassidy mentioned a week ago that he was really excited for the Jay Z and Beyonce’s wedding party to happen,” the source said.
Earlier in the day, speculation that the new couple was marrying reached a new high outside Jay-Z’s Tribeca building.
Just before 8 PM local time, Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband, Coldplay singer Chris Martin, pulled up to the locale, where a rooftop event, believed to be the nuptials of the singer and her beau may be taking place later tonight.
Beyonce’s former Destiny’s Child bandmates – Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams also arrived, but hid behind an umbrella as Gwyneth and Chris were mobbed by paparazzi on the scene.
A fight broke out between paparazzi as Beyonce’s father, Mathew Knowles arrived and dozens of them surrounded the vehicle he was being carried in.
Beyonce’s sister, Solange arrived shortly after her father, dressed in a white dress.
Earlier in the evening an SUV believed to be carrying Oscar winner Forest Whitaker also turned up.
The number four has particular significance to the couple. Both Jay-Z and Beyonce were born on the 4th – Jay Z was born on December 4, 1969, while Beyonce was born September 4, 1981.
A host of media including four live trucks are currently stationed outside the location in preparation for coverage of the suspected nuptials. More than three dozen reporters and paparazzi are also outside with the numbers growing.
Throughout the day SUVs were seen entering and exiting the garage located underneath Jay-Z’s building.
The rooftop penthouse, owned by Jay-Z is adorned in flowers and tented scaffolding.
A Maybach luxury vehicle arrived at the location shortly before 7 PM local time and drove past as it was mobbed by paparazzi. Jay-Z reportedly owns one of the super high-priced cars.

Screen Actors Guild Awards a Good Predictor of Academy Award Winners
May 23, 2008 by Shadow · Comments Off
If the past Screen Actors Guild award ceremonies have taught us anything, it’s that influence can never be underestimated. Take last years Academy Award winners, for instance. In 2006, the Screen Actor’s Guild appointed the film Crash (starring Matt Dillon and Sandra Bullock) as the best outstanding performance by an ensemble cast in a motion picture. Crash went on to win the Academy Award for best picture, beating the odds on favorite Ang Lee’s Brokeback Mountain (starring Heath Ledger and Jack Gyllenhaal).
Though actors constitute a small portion of the 6500 plus Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, they do remain influential in the industry as a whole. This is true for both their votes as part of the SAG constituency as well as for their opinions on the productions their peers are involved with. Though they were once without any real voice in the motion picture industry, the right actor is now just as likely to help a project get off the ground as the director or the producer. Films are cast with the movie going public in mind, and those who fill theaters can not only command top dollar, but loosen the pockets of the production companies behind the films as well.
This year, the exclusion of the popular film Dreamgirls (starring Beyonce Knowles, Jennifer Hudson, Eddie Murphy and Jamie Foxx) from the Academy Award nominee list has left industry insiders clamoring for direction. This means that in all likelihood, the SAG awards may hold even more influence than usual. Though Dreamgirls is nominated for best ensemble performance by a cast, there are plenty of other tempting choices for voters this year. Should another film win, its chances of being best picture at the Academy Awards are greatly increased.
Other films nominated for the category include Emilio Estevez’s Bobby (starring Anthony Hopkins, Helen Hunt, Lindsay Lohan, Harry Belafonte, Heather Graham, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, to name a few, Martin Scorses’s The Departed, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Wahlberg, Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson), the indie film Little Miss Sunshine (starring Greg Kinnear, Steve Carell, Abigal Breslin and Alejandro G as well as “Babel”, a multi-location, interweaving story of love and adversity with a cast of relative unknowns.
Though it’s uncertain as to which film is the definite frontrunner, the film that wins will either gain ground in the race for Best Picture at the Oscars or, in the case of Dreamgirls, solidify the notion that the film was erroneously overlooked.

Masculinity & Modern Women
May 1, 2008 by Shadow · Comments Off
The inclusion of women in the workforce has brought tremendous advancements to our society as a whole.
However, it has also changed the dating scene.
Until a few decades ago, a stereotypical role for women in a Western society was to take care of the home and rearing of any offspring, while the men went out and worked.
Because of this, most women had no source of income and depended entirely on men for their means and survival, which created a definite need for marriage to exist and to work.
Fast forward to 2007 and women are working in powerful positions in society, which often require traditionally masculine behaviours and psychology:
- Leadership of others.
- Assertiveness.
- Decisions based on logic, rather than feelings.
- Direct communication.
TV shows like Sex and they City have done an excellent job of characterizing a new generation of women who:
- Often don’t need the financial support of a man to survive.
- Can spend large amounts of money on a new dress or shoes.
- Can succeed in high-profile positions that were previously dominated by men.
- Have their own life and dreams.
- Put of getting married and ’settling down’.
- Get in and out of dating relationships; often into their late 30s and 40s.
If a man turns on the radio these days, he might also hear this new generation of women singing about how he is no longer necessary to their survival.
Ouch!
